U.S. President Donald Trump attended the dignified transfer ceremony for the remains of U.S. service members killed in the Iran war on the 22nd (local time).

Attending the ceremony held at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, President Trump saluted as the caskets carrying the fallen service members were unloaded one by one from a U.S. Air Force C-17 transport aircraft, expressing his condolences.

Along with President Trump, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine also attended the event.

The service members who returned on this day are four individuals all belonging to the U.S. Army: First Lieutenant Tyler Feehan, Sergeant Michael Swinton, Sergeant Angel Lampersad, and Private Isabella Gonzalez.

U.S. CNN and other broadcasters reported that three of them were killed in an Iranian attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan, while the other died while disposing of an unexploded ordnance from an Iranian drone shot down in northern Iraq.

This marks the third time President Trump has attended a dignified transfer ceremony for U.S. service members killed in the Iran war.

Before departing for Dover Air Force Base, he met with reporters at Joint Base Andrews near Washington, D.C., saying that attending the return of remains is "one of the hardest things to do as president."

He also praised the returning service members as "truly great heroes," stating, "They all very firmly stated that we cannot allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons."

Particularly amid growing public sentiment against the Iran war, President Trump claimed, without specifying which poll, that "a poll that just came out clearly shows that while Americans do not want high gasoline prices, they do not oppose the war."
