A fire broke out at around 8:10 PM today (the 22nd) on the 9.16-ton fishing vessel A with nine crew members on board, while it was operating at night 3 kilometers east of Mulchi, Sokcho, Gangwon Province.

Immediately after receiving the report, the Sokcho Coast Guard dispatched a coastal patrol boat that was on routine patrol, followed by the rapid deployment of Patrol Vessel 509, Patrol Boats P-88 and 105, and the Sokcho Rescue Team to the scene.

Coast guard officers boarded the burning vessel A to extinguish the fire and safely rescued all nine crew members.

The coast guard plans to tow vessel A to Sokcho Port to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
