The Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) criticized the People Power Party's (PPP) attacks surrounding the mortgage set on President Lee Jae-myung's Bundang apartment today (July 22), bringing up PPP leader Jang Dong-hyeok's housing holdings and calling it "the height of impudence beyond shifting the blame."

Spokesperson Jeon Su-mi stated during a National Assembly briefing that "setting the mortgage was a transparent and lawful practical measure that accommodated the buyer's financial situation during the prompt housing sale process while the seller willingly bore the risk of recovering the final payment."

Addressing the PPP, she argued, "Distorting this by talking about evading loan regulations or cunning tricks is a malicious framing attempt to turn even legal and normal transactions into a means of political strife."

She continued, "Those who have protected their vested interests while owning multiple houses are engaging in false propaganda against President Lee, who disposed of his only home even while accepting losses."

Spokesperson Jeon also asked PPP leader Jang Dong-hyeok, "Have you disposed of all six of the houses you own?" adding, "It is truly deplorable to witness this current farce of searching only for a speck in someone else's eye while failing to see the log in one's own."

She emphasized, "No vile fake news and false propaganda can break the Lee Jae-myung administration's firm will to normalize the real estate market."

Previously, the PPP criticized President Lee setting a mortgage of approximately 1.77 billion won during the process of selling his Bundang apartment as a "shortcut method" and "destruction of fairness and common sense."
