At around 10:35 a.m. today (July 22), a hydrogen gas cylinder being transported fell over in an elevator at the Korea Institute of Energy Research located in Gajeong-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.

Due to the accident, some of the 47 liters of hydrogen gas leaked out of the cylinder, prompting about 10 people, including two workers handling the transport, to evacuate.

Fire authorities, dispatched following a report from the institute, took safety measures such as checking the interior for any remaining residual gas.

Fire authorities and the institute believe there is no risk of explosion or asphyxiation from the leak and plan to complete safety inspections after ventilation.
