A man who posted a message on social media threatening to kill President Lee Jae-myung was referred to the prosecution today (July 22).

The Seoul Hyehwa Police Station announced that it has forwarded the 20-something male surnamed A, who faces charges of attempted intimidation, to the prosecution without detention today.

Police stated, "A has admitted to all the charges and stated that he had no actual intention to carry them out," adding, "Even if there is no intention to execute it, posting threatening messages is a clear criminal act."

A is accused of uploading threatening posts five times on the 6th of this month on his personal social media account with the intent to "kill President Lee."

Police apprehended A on the 8th of this month, just two days after the posts were uploaded.

A reportedly stated during police questioning that he wrote the posts because he was "politically dissatisfied."
