A 6-month-old infant stopped breathing after getting a candy wrapper stuck in their throat at a playground.

Amidst the dangerous situation, an off-duty police officer who happened to be at the playground saved the child with prompt emergency first aid.

The person who saved the child is Police Senior Inspector Lee Dae-hyun of the Seoul Gwangjin Police Station.

While spending time with his children after work, he heard urgent cries of "Help me" and "Save my life."

A mother was running toward him holding a 6-month-old infant whose face had turned pale.

The baby was unable to breathe and could not even cry.

Instinctively realizing that the airway was blocked, Senior Inspector Lee immediately took the baby and performed the Heimlich maneuver, while asking surrounding citizens to call 119.

After continuing emergency treatment for about a minute, the baby burst into tears and began to breathe again.

A candy wrapper had been blocking the child's airway.

The Heimlich maneuver differs depending on the age.

For infants under one year old, it is necessary to repeat back blows and chest compressions while stably supporting the head and neck.
