At approximately 11:45 p.m. last night (July 21), a van driven by a woman in her 40s, who was under the influence of alcohol, crashed into a transformer and overturned in Yongmun-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon.

The driver was transported to a hospital immediately after complaining of chest pain.

While there were no additional casualties, the collision between the Carnival van and the transformer caused a power outage in the area near Yongmun Station, including the failure of traffic lights.

Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has launched emergency restoration efforts.

According to police, the driver's blood alcohol concentration was at a level warranting the revocation of her driver's license.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.
