People Power Party Representative Jang Dong-hyuk has pointed out concerns regarding the contents of the special counsel bill for the National Election Commission (NEC) that was tentatively agreed upon with the Democratic Party.

During a closed-door general meeting of lawmakers this afternoon, Representative Jang shared his thoughts on the tentatively agreed-upon special counsel after lawmakers Kim Seok-ki, Park Dae-chul, and Sung Il-jong finished their remarks.

Representative Jang suggested delaying the ratification and re-negotiating with the Democratic Party to more clearly define the scope of the investigation, citing the fact that the scope is not specified in the current bill.

Representative Jang's side told SBS, "The remarks were made with the intention of ensuring there is no ambiguity when the special counsel conducts the investigation later," adding, "We are not opposing the special counsel bill itself that Floor Leader Jeong Jeom-sik has tentatively agreed upon."

A member of the People Power Party leadership stated, "The agreement on the special counsel is clearly a good thing," and added, "It is just that an opinion was raised that the scope of the investigation needs to be specified in detail."

Some hardline supporters of the People Power Party are expressing their dissatisfaction online regarding the failure to secure a special counsel recommended by the opposition party.
