President Lee Jae-myung stated, "We must not turn issues into political agendas by misrepresenting the facts themselves."

President Lee made the remarks during a closed-door discussion at the 31st Cabinet meeting held at the Blue House today (July 21), according to a written briefing by Kang Yu-jeong, the Chief Presidential Spokesperson.

President Lee added, "There are cases where disagreements are presented based on different sets of facts," and emphasized that "we must narrow the gap in our basic understanding through open discussion."

President Lee's comments are interpreted as being directed at the ongoing disputes and conflicts surrounding issues such as the abolition of the prosecution's supplementary investigation powers, which have coincided with the recent race for the next party leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea.

Recently, tensions have been deepening between the Democratic Party and supporters of the ruling bloc, with instances of intense attacks based on assumptions about the intentions of opposing candidates or disagreements over the issue of supplementary investigation powers.
