Prosecutors have requested a 7-year prison sentence for Kim Ji-sun (48), the second-in-command of the Christian Gospel Mission, also known as JMS, who was indicted on charges of aiding and abetting the sexual assault of female followers by President Jung Myung-seok.

The prosecution made the request during the final hearing held at the Daejeon District Court yesterday (July 20).

In addition, the prosecution requested that the court order Kim to complete a sexual violence treatment program, disclose her personal information, and be restricted from employment at institutions related to children and adolescents for 10 years.

Kim, known as Jung's successor, is accused of brainwashing followers in 2018 into believing that Jung was the "Messiah," thereby rendering them unable to resist, and assisting Jung in the sexual assault or molestation of three female followers.

It is reported that Kim's side has completely denied the charges, claiming she did not conspire with Jung to commit the crimes.

Separately from this case, Kim is currently serving a 7-year prison sentence finalized in 2024 for her role in Jung's crimes, which included giving pajamas to a Hong Kong national follower named May (30) and instructing her to "stay here and sleep while guarding the Lord."

Jung, who is already serving a finalized 17-year prison sentence, is also being tried in a separate first-instance trial after being additionally indicted on charges of sexually assaulting 15 female followers at training centers and other locations.

The first-instance sentencing hearing for Kim is expected to be held alongside other accomplices once the arguments for President Jung's additional sexual assault case are concluded.
