A man in his 20s who assaulted a taxi driver for honking his horn in Dongseong-ro, Daegu, has been referred to the prosecution.

The Daegu Jungbu Police Station announced that it referred the suspect, a man in his 20s identified as A, to the prosecution on July 10 on charges including assault resulting in bodily injury.

A is accused of assaulting a taxi driver in his 70s, identified as B, multiple times on a road in Dongseong-ro, Daegu, around 1:00 a.m. on June 20.

At the time, B honked his horn out of concern for a potential collision with the vehicle in front of him. A, who was standing on the side of the road, began swearing and demanded to know why the driver had honked, before pulling B out of the vehicle and assaulting him.

When police arrived at the scene, A claimed that it was a mutual altercation. However, dashcam footage from the vehicle and CCTV footage exclusively obtained by SBS showed that the assault was one-sided.

During police questioning, A reportedly stated that he was intoxicated and that the sound of the horn had annoyed him.
