Search operations are continuing for the fourth day for a person in their 40s who went missing in the Jucheon River in Yeongwol following heavy rainfall in the Gangwon region.

Police and fire authorities have been conducting search operations since 7:30 a.m. today (July 21), deploying 90 personnel, two rescue dogs, and 41 pieces of equipment.

Police, fire departments, and volunteer fire brigades have divided the area from the Yongseok Weir, where the accident occurred, to the downstream confluence point to carry out the search by section.

The 40-year-old, identified as A, went missing after being swept away by a swift current while crossing a weir to go fishing in the Jucheon River in Yongseok-ri, Jucheon-myeon, Yeongwol-gun, at 7:59 p.m. on July 18, when heavy rain was pouring across the Gangwon region.

Two colleagues who had come fishing with A at the time witnessed the incident and reported it to 119. Search operations continued through yesterday, but A has not yet been found.
