Police and fire authorities are currently searching for a man in his 60s who went missing in the Piagol Valley of Jirisan Mountain.

According to the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Fire Headquarters and other authorities on Tuesday (July 21), a report was filed by the man's wife at 8:10 p.m. yesterday, stating that her husband had not returned home.

Based on mobile phone location tracking, police identified that the man, identified as A, had been in the Piagol area of Toji-myeon, Gurye-gun, and are currently searching the vicinity.

Police believe that A, who resides in Seoul, visited Jirisan Mountain alone.

Authorities are continuing the search operation by reviewing CCTV footage from Piagol and nearby mountain shelters.
