The South Korean national football team's FIFA ranking for July has dropped out of the top 30 for the first time in 4 years and 7 months, following a lackluster performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North and Central America.
In the FIFA rankings released on July 21 (KST), South Korea was placed 32nd.
South Korea, which stood at 25th just before the World Cup, fell 7 spots to 32nd after being eliminated in the group stage with a record of 1 win and 2 losses.
This marks the first time South Korea has fallen out of the top 30 (21st to 30th) since December 2021, when the team was ranked 33rd.
Japan, which was eliminated in the Round of 32 at the North and Central American World Cup, moved up 1 spot to 17th, recording the highest ranking among Asian nations.
Iran fell 2 spots to 22nd, and Australia also dropped 1 spot to 28th.
In the overall standings, Spain returned to the world number 1 spot for the first time in 6 months since January, displacing Argentina to 2nd place after defeating them to win the North and Central American World Cup.
France and England took 3rd and 4th place respectively, while Norway, led by "monster striker" Erling Haaland, jumped 12 spots from 31st to 19th after reaching the quarterfinals.
