San Diego Padres player Song Sung-mun delivered a powerful performance despite entering the game as a substitute in the 8th inning, recording his first three-hit game since his big league debut.

In an away game against the Kansas City Royals, Song came on as a pinch hitter in the 8th inning with his team leading 8-2. He connected on a 158 km/h (98 mph) fastball from the opposing pitcher, hitting a single to center field to reach base.

He then scored a run during the subsequent grand slam by teammate Ty France.

With the game lopsided at 13-2, Kansas City conceded and sent an infielder to the mound in the 9th inning to save their bullpen, and Song’s bat grew even hotter.

Leading off the inning, he attacked a slow 71 km/h (44 mph) pitch, driving a double into left-center field. He then crossed home plate again following a home run by Merrill Jackson.

With the lineup turning over and the team leading 17-2, Song stepped up to the plate again with two outs and the bases loaded. This time, he hit a two-run RBI single to complete his first three-hit game in the big leagues.

Meanwhile, Minnesota Twins pitcher Go Woo-suk took the mound in the 8th inning of an away game against the Chicago Cubs. Although he allowed two hits and one walk over one inning, he struck out two batters and kept the game scoreless.
