The special investigation team of the National Office of Investigation, which is looking into allegations of investigative misconduct in the Jang Yoon-gi case, will conduct an in-person interrogation of Jang today, July 20. This marks the first time Jang has been questioned in person since the allegations of investigative misconduct were raised following SBS reports.

The special investigation team of the National Office of Investigation, which is handling the case of Jang Yoon-gi, the perpetrator of the Gwangju high school student murder, will question Jang directly.

It is reported that the special investigation team plans to visit the Gwangju Correctional Institution this afternoon to focus on whether Jang received any special treatment or favors from the investigation team at the Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station during the initial investigation.

Jang's uncle, a police officer surnamed Jang, is also scheduled to appear before the police today as a witness.

The special investigation team is expected to question the uncle, Inspector Jang, regarding whether he interfered in the investigation of his nephew.

Following the arrest of the former team leader of the Gwangsan Police Station investigation team on charges of destruction of evidence, a warrant hearing for his immediate superior, former Detective Division Chief Superintendent Park, will be held at the Gwangju District Court tomorrow morning, July 21.

Superintendent Park is facing charges of abuse of power and dereliction of duty in connection with the decision-making process that led to applying the charge of murder rather than murder for the purpose of rape against Jang Yoon-gi.

It has been learned that the prosecution questioned the former Gwangsan Police Station investigation team leader yesterday, July 19, focusing on circumstances suggesting that Superintendent Park ignored opinions from some members of the investigation team who argued that the charge of murder for the purpose of rape should be considered.

With the warrant hearing approaching, the special investigation team appears to be focusing all its efforts on final preparations, including summoning relevant individuals and analyzing seized materials.
