A fire broke out in a K7 sedan parked at the Hwaseong Service Area on the Seohaean Expressway, heading toward Mokpo, in Paltan-myeon, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, at approximately 3:10 p.m. today (July 18).

Upon receiving reports from witnesses, fire authorities deployed 15 pieces of equipment and 37 personnel, successfully extinguishing the blaze within 25 minutes.

There were no casualties, though the vehicle was mostly destroyed by the fire.

Police and fire authorities have determined that the fire originated in the engine compartment while the driver and two passengers—three people in total—had stepped away from the vehicle to enter the service area. They are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire.
