The fire authorities have upgraded the alert level regarding the fire at the Coupang logistics center in Incheon.

The fire department issued a Level 2 response at the scene of the fire at the Coupang logistics center in Seohae-gu, Incheon, at approximately 12:25 p.m. today.

The authorities had initially issued a Level 1 response at around 9:15 a.m. However, they decided to upgrade the alert level, anticipating that it would take a significant amount of time to extinguish the fire due to the large area of the logistics center and the abundance of combustible materials inside.

A Level 1 response involves the mobilization of all personnel from the local fire station, while a Level 2 response involves mobilizing personnel and equipment from 5 to 6 neighboring fire stations.

Currently, 219 personnel, including firefighters, and 79 pieces of equipment, such as pump trucks, have been deployed to the scene to battle the blaze.

Seohae-gu issued a safety alert via text message, advising nearby residents to be cautious and urging vehicles to take detour routes.

The fire began at approximately 6:54 a.m. on the 6th floor of the Coupang 32 Logistics Center in Seohae-gu, Incheon.

There have been no casualties reported so far, and 121 people, including logistics center employees, have evacuated on their own.
