Heavy and intense rain is falling, primarily across the central regions, due to the influence of a low-pressure system. The downpour is expected to be particularly strong until this morning. We connect to the weather center to check the current situation.
Weather caster Lim Eun-jin, please go ahead.

Due to a stationary front and a low-pressure system developing along it, heavy rain clouds are currently passing through the central regions.
Currently, Gimpo in Gyeonggi Province is experiencing concentrated rainfall of 40mm per hour, and up to this point, around 120mm of precipitation has been recorded in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and Gimpo.
As a result, a heavy rain advisory is in effect for the central regions, while a heavy rain warning has been issued for Seoul, northern Gyeonggi Province, and inland Gangwon Province.
Through tomorrow, July 19, up to 200mm or more of rain is expected in the Seoul metropolitan area, over 250mm in inland Gangwon Province, and as much as 200mm in the northern Chungcheong region.
In the central regions, extreme rainfall reaching up to 80mm per hour may continue in some areas until this morning.
The rain clouds are gradually moving southward, and strong rain is also expected in the Gyeongbuk and Jeonbuk regions.
With the heavy rain, the heat will temporarily subside.
The current temperature in Seoul is 20.9°C (70°F), and the daytime high will remain around 27°C (81°F).
Please take extra precautions against safety accidents as the strong and heavy rain will continue until tomorrow, and there will be many days with monsoon rain next week as well.
