Doosan Bears' second-year right-handed pitcher Choi Min-seok is on the verge of achieving his first 10-win season in his career.

Choi started in an away game against the NC Dinos at Changwon NC Park in Gyeongnam today (July 17) and pitched six scoreless innings, allowing five hits and two walks.

After meeting the requirements for a win and handing the mound over to Lee Yong-chan in the bottom of the 7th inning with the team leading 2-0, Choi will secure his 10th win and jump to sole possession of first place in wins if Doosan maintains the lead and wins the game.

Choi also lowered his earned run average (ERA) from 2.33 to 2.19, maintaining his lead in that category.

Choi extinguished a bases-loaded crisis with one out in the 4th inning by forcing pinch hitter Kim Hwi-jip into a right-field flyout and catching a line drive from Kim Han-byeol at third base.

He then finished his duties without allowing a run in the 6th inning, overcoming a situation with runners on first and third that he had created himself by getting Kim Hyung-jun to fly out to left field.

Doosan took control of the game thanks to Choi's strong pitching and a two-run homer over the left-field fence by Yang Eui-ji in the 2nd inning.
