Viewers experienced difficulties today (July 17) as the professional baseball game between the kt wiz and the LG Twins, held at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, was not broadcast due to issues at the broadcasting station.
The game, aired by the sports cable channel SPOTV, saw its transmission cut off during the top of the 4th inning, with kt leading 4-0. A message appeared stating that the signal from the venue was unstable, and the broadcast switched to footage from the previous day's game.
The KBO secretariat, which began investigating the situation, stated, "The power supply to the broadcast vehicle at Jamsil Baseball Stadium was cut off, causing the broadcast to stop. We are currently working on a swift restoration."
As the TV broadcast was interrupted, the KBO Video Review Center also halted video reviews for the Jamsil game.
An official from the KBO secretariat explained, "League regulations state that video reviews are not conducted if there is no TV broadcast." The official added, "Video reviews are performed by comparing the KBO's own camera footage installed at the stadium with the broadcast feed. Since the broadcast feed was not reaching the review room at all, we were forced to suspend video reviews."
The broadcast, which had been interrupted at approximately 6:58 PM, resumed 22 minutes later at 7:20 PM.
In the meantime, kt's Sam Hilliard, who hit a grand slam in the 3rd inning, also hit a two-run home run in the 5th, putting kt ahead 6-0 as of the bottom of the 5th inning.
