FIFA will award 'championship rings' to the winning team of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the first time in history.
FIFA announced on its official website today (July 17, KST), "For the first time in the history of FIFA-organized tournaments, we will present specially crafted 'championship rings' to the winning team," adding, "One of the most iconic traditions of U.S. sports victory celebrations is making its debut on the world football stage."
A total of 2,026 championship rings will be produced to commemorate the year of the tournament, with each ring assigned a unique serial number.
Thirty rings will be awarded to the winning team, while the remaining 1,996 will be sold to fans worldwide as officially licensed merchandise.
Following the final match, the winning team's captain and head coach will first receive temporarily crafted championship rings. Subsequently, personalized championship rings will be custom-made for each of the 30 members of the squad and delivered to them.
