Monsoon rain will continue throughout this holiday period.
Very strong, concentrated downpours are expected in the Chungcheong and southern regions today, and in the central regions tomorrow.
Currently, due to the influence of a stationary front, some areas in the Chungcheong and southern regions are experiencing moderately heavy rain of about 10mm per hour, and this rainfall is expected to continue with 5mm to a maximum of 60mm until tonight.
Rain clouds will begin to reach the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon-do starting tonight.
Looking at the expected rainfall through the day after tomorrow, July 19, heavy precipitation will be concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area with 100mm to over 300mm, northern Chungcheong province with over 250mm, and around 150mm in northern Gyeongbuk. In particular, extreme downpours of up to 80mm per hour are expected in parts of the central region, including the Seoul metropolitan area, between early morning and the morning of tomorrow, July 18. Please thoroughly check your surroundings to prevent damage from landslides or flooding.
This monsoon rain is expected to continue until next week as the stationary front moves up and down.
