The Constitution Day holiday, which begins tomorrow (July 17), will be accompanied by monsoon rain.

Monsoon rain has already begun in regions south of Chungcheong due to the influence of a stationary front.

However, as you can see, another cluster of clouds is visible behind this stationary front.

These rain clouds will move closer to the Korean Peninsula around the weekend, bringing strong and heavy rain, particularly to the central regions.

As a result, monsoon rain will drench the regions south of Chungcheong tomorrow, and the entire country over the next two days.

First, let us look at the expected precipitation for tomorrow.

Up to 80mm of rain is expected in the Honam and Gyeongnam regions, up to 60mm in Chungcheong and Gyeongbuk, and around 5mm in the southwestern part of Gyeonggi Province.

Starting tomorrow night in the Seoul metropolitan area, heavy rain will pour over the central regions by early Saturday morning.

Up to 200mm or more is expected in southern Gyeonggi and northern Chungnam, over 150mm in central and southern Gangwon, and up to 150mm in other central areas including Seoul. In particular, please be thoroughly prepared for heavy rain, as up to 80mm per hour is expected from early Saturday morning through the morning hours.

Let us also look at the detailed temperatures.

Tomorrow morning's low in Seoul will be 23°C (73°F), similar to today. The daytime high in Seoul will reach 32°C (90°F), while the heat wave that has been persistent in the Yeongnam region will begin to ease starting tomorrow.

The heat will subside over the weekend as rain falls in Seoul as well. The rain will gradually taper off starting from the western regions on Sunday afternoon, but scattered rain will continue in various parts of the country through next Monday.
