On April 13 and 16, 2026, this media outlet reported in programs including "News Hunters" under the title "Engine Roars and RPM Spikes While Parked" that an abnormal RPM phenomenon occurred in a QM6 vehicle, and that Renault Korea was passing the diagnostic costs on to the customer despite acknowledging the defect.

In response, Renault Korea stated, "According to the on-site and vehicle investigation by the Korea Automobile Testing & Research Institute (KATRI) under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, it was confirmed that the phenomenon was not sudden unintended acceleration, but was caused by a non-genuine honeycomb mat physically pressing on and obstructing the accelerator pedal. A representative from the Renault Korea service center provided standard guidance in accordance with maintenance principles and automobile insurance claim processes, and explained that, under domestic automobile maintenance regulations, customers must provide prior consent for paid diagnostic and repair items."
