On the evening of July 6, a silent 119 emergency call with no verbal response was received from a building in Wanju, Jeonbuk.
The 119 emergency operations center sensed an emergency based on the sounds heard during the brief disconnection of the call. Through a text message exchange, they confirmed that the caller was trapped in an elevator and assessed the situation inside.
Rescue teams were immediately dispatched and successfully rescued all nine people—five children and four adult women—who had been trapped in the elevator, which had stalled between the first and second floors.
The following footage captures the urgent rescue process by the 119 operations center and the rescue team, who did not miss the small signal amidst the silence.
