Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) has launched a fast-track initiative by opening bidding for construction work to accelerate the operation of the first semiconductor fab at the Yongin Advanced System Semiconductor National Industrial Complex.
LH announced on July 16 that it is prioritizing the bidding for the first zone of the Yongin semiconductor national industrial complex construction project.
The Yongin semiconductor national industrial complex is set to house 6 semiconductor fabs, companies specializing in materials, parts, and equipment, 3 power generation facilities, and industrial gas supply facilities across an area of approximately 7.78 million square meters in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
The first zone covers approximately 3.45 million square meters and includes the site for the first semiconductor fab.
The construction cost is approximately 1.086 trillion won.
The bidding process will utilize a Construction Management (CM) at-risk model combined with a fast-track approach.
This method incorporates the construction expertise of the project manager from the design stage while simultaneously proceeding with administrative procedures related to the design.
Starting with the announcement today, the plan is to accept bids in September, select a project manager in November, and begin construction by the end of the year.
LH President Lee Sung-hun visited the Yongin national industrial complex project site immediately after taking office on July 9 and ordered a drastic reduction in the schedule, stating, "I will personally oversee the performance and progress of the Yongin national industrial complex every week."
