The Korea Power Exchange (KPX) announced today (July 16) that electric vehicle (EV) owners can receive discounts on charging fees through the "EV Plus DR" program.
Plus DR is a program designed to stabilize the power grid by encouraging increased electricity consumption during specific times when power supply exceeds demand.
The exchange explained that users can enjoy discounts when charging their EVs during weekend daytime hours in the spring and autumn, when solar power generation surges and creates a surplus of electricity.
In fact, those who used EV chargers operated by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) during weekend daytime hours this past spring received discounts ranging from 40.1 to 48.6 won per kWh.
This represents a discount benefit equivalent to approximately 12 to 15% of the total charging cost.
Currently, seven charging service providers, including the Korea Electric Power Corporation, Easy Charger, and SK Electlink, are participating in the Plus DR program to offer various benefits.
