The Yesan Police Station in South Chungcheong Province announced today (July 16) that it has booked and is investigating a tour bus driver in his 60s on charges of causing death by traffic accident under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents.
The driver, identified as A (62), is accused of striking and killing a middle school student, B, who was crossing a crosswalk in accordance with the pedestrian signal near the Imseong Intersection in Oga-myeon, Yesan-gun, South Chungcheong Province, at 4:31 p.m. yesterday (July 15).
A breathalyzer test conducted by the police confirmed that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol.
The police believe the accident occurred because the driver violated a traffic signal and are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident. (Photo: Yonhap News)
