High school students who entered a stream that had been closed to the public due to heavy rain out of curiosity were discovered through police CCTV monitoring and subsequently rescued.

According to the Seoul Gangbuk Police Station on July 16, police spotted three male high school students entering the Ui Stream in Gangbuk-gu, a frequently flooded area, at 10:33 p.m. on July 14 and rescued them.

At the time, police officers from the Beondong Patrol Division of the Gangbuk Police Station were monitoring CCTV footage in their jurisdiction following heavy rain forecasts when they captured the students on camera.

Police dispatched to the scene evacuated the students, who were submerged up to their chests in the rising water, to a safe location.

It was determined that the high school students had entered the water out of curiosity as the water level in the stream rose.

Kim Tae-hyun, Chief of the Gangbuk Police Station, urged, "As water levels in streams can rise rapidly in a short period during heavy rain, we ask citizens to refrain from entering these areas."
