Amid escalating armed conflict and the effective abandonment of previous Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) between the United States and Iran following tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian Foreign Ministry has stated that it has no plans for negotiations with the U.S. at this time and will focus all efforts on national defense.
On July 15 (local time), Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement, "The Iranian government currently has no plans for any negotiations (with the U.S.) and is focusing all its efforts on national defense."
Regarding the implementation of previous MOUs and diplomatic agreements, Baghaei emphasized, "Agreements are premised on the mutual fulfillment of obligations," adding, "If the other party violates its promises first, Iran will also cease to fulfill its obligations."
He further added, "Reciprocity is an unwavering principle for Iran, and we will continue to firmly maintain this stance moving forward."
