Monsoon Rain Returns to Honam Region; Heatwave Continues in Central Korea

Starting today, July 16, monsoon rain will begin in the Honam and Jeju regions, and by tomorrow, the rain will spread to the Chungcheong and Yeongnam regions.

Meanwhile, in the central regions, where no rain is expected until tomorrow, sweltering heat with temperatures exceeding 30°C (86°F) will return.

The expected rainfall for today and tomorrow is as follows:

Between 30 and 80 millimeters of rain is expected in the Honam and Gyeongnam regions, while 20 to 60 millimeters of rain will fall in the Gyeongbuk and southern Chungcheong regions.

Also, please be mindful of the ultraviolet index during the day today.

In many areas of Gangwon and regions south of Chungcheong, the index could reach the danger level, so it is recommended to refrain from going outdoors if possible.

Let's take a look at the temperatures.

Tropical nights are expected overnight, particularly in the Yeongnam region, and daytime temperatures today will reach 32°C (90°F) in Seoul and 35°C (95°F) in Daegu.

This weekend, the monsoon rain is expected to expand across the entire country.

The rain is forecast to continue until next Monday.
