The Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Division of the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency announced today (July 15) that it has conducted a search and seizure operation at a hospital affiliated with On Group, which is operated by the father of former Busan mayoral candidate Jeong Yi-han.
The search, which took place throughout the morning and afternoon today, reportedly focused on items such as work computers used at the hospital.
Police are investigating allegations that employees of the affiliate were mobilized for the former candidate's election campaign.
The allegations involve claims that employees were instructed to write comments supporting Jeong before and after the election period, or were directed to join a political party.
The Public Official Election Act prohibits the use of professional institutions, organizations, or other internal structures to compel members to engage in election campaigning through their professional duties.
A police official stated, "The search and seizure was conducted to verify the allegations," but added, "We cannot disclose specific details."
