The Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced on Wednesday (July 15) that it has booked a 70-year-old man, identified as A, on charges of stalking a woman in her 20s and her father in violation of the Stalking Punishment Act.
A, who is a doctor, is accused of repeatedly attempting to contact the woman, B, and her father, as well as visiting their home and ringing the doorbell.
The police initially referred the case to the prosecution in mid-April but were subsequently asked by the prosecution to conduct further investigations.
During the prosecution's investigation phase, it was discovered that A had sent text messages to acquaintances claiming that his son was going to marry B.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the text messages and the reasons behind A's persistent attempts to approach the father and daughter.
