People Power Party (PPP) Representative Jang Dong-hyeok criticized independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon today (July 15), asking, "What is the logic behind wanting to return to the People Power Party after driving Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho and the party into a corner, while positioning yourself as the person who stopped martial law and led the impeachment?"

Representative Jang made these remarks today on PenN Mike TV, referring to the trial of Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho, who was the floor leader of the People Power Party during the emergency martial law declaration, on charges of obstructing the vote to lift the martial law.

He brought up the recent testimony in Mayor Choo's trial by fellow party lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo, who stated, "I understand that the first person to notify People Power Party lawmakers to gather at the party headquarters instead of the National Assembly was then-party leader Han Dong-hoon." Jang questioned, "If he continues to claim that is wrong even after Representative Ahn's testimony, is he suggesting that Mayor Choo should be punished as an accomplice to insurrection?"

He continued, "If former leader Han had simply said, 'I was the one who first suggested going to the party headquarters' (during the December 3 emergency martial law), this case would have taken a completely different turn," adding, "Now, any justification for discussing former leader Han's return to the party has been lost. There is no foundation left for it anymore."

He also stated, "It is not just about bringing one person into our side; it can be called 'addition politics' only when bringing them in strengthens our power. If it actually reduces our capabilities, that is 'subtraction politics'."

He added, "If you bring in a sniper who is truly good at shooting, it would be a great help to our combat power if they shoot at the enemy, but if they use those incredible shooting skills to target our own side, wouldn't that be a major disaster?"
