The Busan Sasang Police Station announced today (July 15) that a man in his 50s has been booked without detention on charges of causing public alarm by carrying a weapon in a park.

The man is accused of wandering around a park in Sasang-gu while intoxicated on July 8 at approximately 6:30 p.m., carrying a weapon measuring 28cm in length.

Police analyzed repeated 112 emergency calls, classified the man as a suspect with a high risk of recidivism, and arrested him in the act.

It was reported that the man has been reported multiple times for threatening others with a weapon and has a criminal record of 10 prior offenses related to such behavior.

A police official stated, "We determined he was a high-risk suspect based on his history of 112 reports and habitual behavior, and we took swift initial action by securing statements from witnesses in the area."
