A teenage girl died in a fire that broke out at a temporary structure in Ganam-eup, Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, around 3:00 a.m. today (July 15).

The site of the fire was identified as a temporary structure consisting of a container installed inside a vinyl greenhouse.

Fire authorities dispatched to the scene brought the major flames under control within approximately 40 minutes. While extinguishing the remaining fire, they discovered the body of a 19-year-old, identified as A.

Two of A's family members were reported to have evacuated on their own at the time of the fire.


As of now, no signs of foul play have been identified at the scene.

The police believe that A and her family were living together in the structure.

A police official stated, "While the possibility of arson or accidental fire appears low, it is difficult to determine the exact cause of the fire as the site was completely destroyed," adding, "We will conduct an on-site forensic examination to determine the exact circumstances."
