A ceiling collapsed on the second floor of a two-story multi-unit house in Buk-gu, Busan, at 2:45 p.m. on July 14.

There were no casualties as the unit was unoccupied at the time of the accident, and eight people, including residents of the same building, were evacuated immediately.

Buk-gu authorities believe the accident was caused by the aging of the structure.

The multi-unit house where the accident occurred was completed in 1979.

A Buk-gu official stated, "The building was in a significantly deteriorated state, with rusted steel reinforcements," adding, "We are currently investigating the exact cause of the accident."
