A white passenger car is seen having crossed the sidewalk and crashed into a bicycle storage rack.

A yellow village bus, surrounded by police tape, stands on the road, with debris from the damaged vehicles scattered everywhere.

At approximately 6:50 a.m. today, a report was received that a passenger car had struck a pedestrian at a village bus stop near Jeongja Station in Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

The car hit the rear of the stationary bus before plunging onto the sidewalk.

[Bus Driver: I was dropping off and picking up passengers at the stop. Suddenly, there was a loud bang. The car had just nose-dived into the area. I was flustered because it is my first time experiencing something like this while driving a bus.]

A man in his 30s who was walking on the sidewalk at the time was struck by the car and transported to a hospital in cardiac arrest, but he eventually passed away.

Fortunately, there were no passengers on the bus. The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s identified as A, and a teenage girl who was also in the vehicle were injured, but their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police stated that the driver, A, was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.

It is reported that A claimed to the police that the vehicle had experienced sudden unintended acceleration.

The police have booked A on charges of causing death under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident based on the vehicle's dashcam footage and nearby CCTV footage.
