The special counsel team has requested an arrest warrant for former Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung on charges including engaging in important duties during an insurrection.

Shim is accused of reviewing the dispatch of prosecutors to the Martial Law Joint Investigation Headquarters under the direction of former Minister of Justice Park Sung-jae on the day the emergency martial law was declared, and of abandoning an immediate appeal following the cancellation of the arrest of former President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The court hearing for Shim's arrest warrant is scheduled for the morning of July 16.
