The KOSPI index plunged by more than 5% during intraday trading, falling to the 6,400 level, but managed to close with a slight gain thanks to large-scale buying by foreign and institutional investors.
Today (July 14), the KOSPI closed at 6,856.83, up 49.90 points (0.73%).
The index opened at 6,769.06, down 37.87 points (0.56%), and at one point recorded a decline of 5.26%, but turned to positive territory toward the end of the session.
The KOSDAQ opened at 797.16, down 2.20 points (0.28%), and closed at 783.98, down 15.38 points (1.92%).
During the session, the KOSDAQ index fell as low as 749.76, a 6.20% drop, and a sell-side sidecar was triggered for the 8th time this year.
