DJ Koo Visits Late Wife Barbie Hsu's Grave Amid Inheritance Dispute Rumors

Published : Jul 14, 2026 3:10 PM

Singer Koo Jun-yup, known as DJ Koo, was recently spotted visiting the grave of his late wife, Taiwanese actor Barbie Hsu, amid ongoing reports regarding disputes over her estate.

According to the Hong Kong media outlet Sing Tao Headline, Koo visited Hsu's grave at Chin Pao San in New Taipei City, Taiwan, alone on July 8. Witnesses reported seeing Koo sitting by the grave, watching videos of Hsu from when she was alive on a tablet PC, bowing his head, and wiping away tears.

Since Hsu's passing, the issue of her estate inheritance has remained a subject of constant interest in the Greater China region. Local reports indicate that the legal heirs are her spouse, Koo, and their two children. The two children are set to inherit two-thirds of the total estate, while Koo is to inherit the remaining one-third.

Recently, reports surfaced claiming that over 100 million yuan (approximately 19 billion KRW) of Hsu's estate has been frozen due to inheritance procedures. This means the assets cannot be legally disposed of until lawyers and banks complete the processes of asset liquidation, deduction of inheritance taxes, and distribution among the heirs.

In relation to this, the side of her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, previously issued a statement through their lawyer consisting of five points. The statement said, "A dedicated trust account has already been opened for the two-thirds of the estate inherited by Hsu's two minor children in accordance with the law," adding, "Wang Xiaofei fully respects how Koo Jun-yup chooses to handle the one-third of the estate he inherited according to the law based on his own personal plans."

However, recent claims have even suggested that Koo was pressured to renounce his inheritance of Hsu's assets. Local media outlets, including SET News in Taiwan, reported allegations that Hsu's mother had previously demanded that Koo sign an agreement to waive his inheritance rights.

Other media outlets in the Greater China region have also published speculative reports suggesting that Koo plans to enter mediation proceedings with representatives for Hsu's two children through his lawyer.

Meanwhile, Barbie Hsu passed away suddenly on February 2, 2025, due to complications from pneumonia following the flu while traveling in Japan. She was 48. Hsu is survived by two children from her previous marriage to Wang Xiaofei.
