Seoul has seen tropical nights for three days in a row.

The heat will continue through the day.

In regions under heat wave advisories, the perceived temperature will rise above 33°C (91°F), leading to sweltering conditions.

However, the heat will briefly ease when the rain arrives.

As rain clouds from the typhoon Bavi, which has weakened into a tropical depression, approach the Korean Peninsula, rain will begin in western regions. By this afternoon, it will spread to the central regions, and by tonight, rain will fall in other southern parts of the country as well.

In particular, this rain is expected to be heavy and concentrated in the central regions.

Heavy downpours of over 120mm are expected in the northern Gyeonggi province, and more than 100mm in the northern Gangwon province. Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan area will also see significant rainfall of up to 100mm.

During the vulnerable early morning hours, strong, heavy rain accompanied by gusts is expected in northern Gyeonggi and northern Gangwon, so please take precautions to prevent rain-related damage.

Today, gusts of around 15 meters per second may occur across the country, and waves will be high, especially in coastal waters.

The rain will mostly taper off by tomorrow afternoon.

For the time being, heat waves and heavy rain will continue to alternate.
