Lee Jae-yong's Stock Value Surges by 28 Trillion Won in Q2; Chey Tae-won Joins '10 Trillion Won Club'

Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong saw his stock valuation increase by more than 28 trillion won in the second quarter of this year.

SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won also joined the '10 trillion won club' for the first time, as his stock assets surged by 176 percent.

The Korea CXO Institute, a corporate analysis firm, released these findings in its report titled 'Analysis of Changes in Stock Valuations of Major Group Heads in the Second Quarter of 2026.'

The survey covered 46 heads of large business groups managed by the Fair Trade Commission, each holding stock valuations exceeding 100 billion won as of the end of June.

The results showed that the total stock valuation of the 46 group heads increased by 28 percent, from 104.4301 trillion won at the end of March to 133.6207 trillion won at the end of June. However, excluding Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Chairman Chey Tae-won, the total value actually decreased by 8.6 percent.

During this period, Chairman Lee Jae-yong's stock valuation rose by 91.3 percent, from 30.9414 trillion won to 59.1878 trillion won, marking the largest increase in value.

Chairman Chey Tae-won's stock valuation grew by 6.9158 trillion won, or 176.9 percent, increasing from 3.9101 trillion won to 10.8259 trillion won, ranking first in terms of growth rate.

As of the end of June, there were 16 group heads with stock assets exceeding 1 trillion won. The top 10 included Chairman Lee Jae-yong, Celltrion Group Chairman Seo Jung-jin (11.8944 trillion won), Chairman Chey Tae-won, Chairman Chung Eui-sun (7.7577 trillion won), Chairman Cho Hyun-joon (4.5523 trillion won), Asan Foundation Chairman Chung Mong-joon (4.1917 trillion won), Kakao founder Kim Beom-su (3.6412 trillion won), EcoPro founder Lee Dong-chae (2.7263 trillion won), HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk (2.5263 trillion won), and Chairman Koo Kwang-mo (2.5185 trillion won).
