[Anchor] It is quite difficult to get children into daycare centers these days. What is the story this time?

[Reporter] Yes, this happened at a newly built apartment complex in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province.

At this complex, applications for enrollment in the on-site public daycare center were scheduled to open at 10:00 a.m. yesterday (July 13). However, for some reason, the application portal did not open even after the announced time had passed.

Residents inquired with both the Uiwang city government and the integrated childcare portal "Ai Sarang," but both sides told them to contact the other, which only added to the confusion.

Eventually, the Ai Sarang portal acknowledged a system error, apologized, and decided to reschedule the application process.

However, a bigger problem is that even though this is a large complex with 2,200 households, the daycare center is only recruiting 68 children, making admission extremely competitive.

Furthermore, although move-ins began in June, the daycare center is not scheduled to open until this coming September. As a result, dual-income families are finding themselves in a situation where they must delay their moving plans until they can confirm the enrollment results.

Parents are expressing their frustration, saying, "The reality is that we have to worry more about finding a place to leave our children than about the new house," pointing to the recurring issues of daycare shortages and administrative confusion that arise whenever new apartment complexes are built.
