U.S. President Donald Trump announced via his social media platform, Truth Social, on July 13 (local time) that he will deliver an address to the nation at 9:00 p.m. on July 16 (local time).
This corresponds to 10:00 a.m. on July 17 in Korea Standard Time.
While he did not specify the topic of the address, it is drawing attention as it is highly likely to focus on the Trump administration's response to Iran.
Earlier that day, President Trump stated his intention to restore a maritime blockade against Iran and effectively collect transit fees from merchant vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz under the pretext of providing safe passage.
President Trump's last address to the nation was on April 1.
At the time, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt introduced that President Trump would provide significant updates regarding Iran.
In that address, President Trump declared his policy to strike Iran with extreme force over the following two to three weeks.
