Sweltering heat has been persistent for days.

Starting tomorrow, July 14, the intensity of the heat wave is expected to ease slightly as monsoon rain begins to fall.

As you can see, there is a tropical depression over China that has weakened from Typhoon Bavi.

As this low-pressure system moves along the edge of the North Pacific high-pressure ridge and passes through North Korea, monsoon rain will fall across the entire country tomorrow and the day after.

In particular, residents in the central and Honam regions should be cautious as strong winds and heavy rain are expected. Let's take a look at when the rain will begin.

The rain will start in the Seoul metropolitan area around noon tomorrow and will expand to the Yeongnam region by nightfall.

From tomorrow night, in particular, very heavy rain of around 50mm per hour will be concentrated in Gyeonggi Province and the northern parts of Gangwon Province.

Let's look at the expected precipitation.

Up to 120mm or more is expected in northern Gyeonggi Province, over 100mm in northern Gangwon Province, and up to 100mm in Seoul. Other parts of the central region and North Jeolla Province will also see significant rainfall of up to 80mm.

As the rain falls, heat wave warnings will be gradually lifted or eased, but the Yeongnam region will continue to experience extreme heat tomorrow.

Looking at the temperatures in detail, tropical nights are expected in most areas, including Seoul, tonight. Daytime temperatures will rise to 32°C (90°F) in Seoul and 36°C (97°F) in Daegu.

The heat wave will briefly subside the day after tomorrow due to the rain, and monsoon rain is expected to continue, mainly in the southern provinces, toward the end of the week.
