Many people are visiting water parks to escape the sweltering heat. However, a tragic incident occurred last weekend at a water park in Gyeonggi Province where an elementary school student died, and a man in his 30s was arrested by police for sexually molesting children.

A large water park in Ilsan, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

At approximately 12:10 p.m. on July 11, a report was made to 119 that an elementary school student, identified as A, had drowned.

The accident occurred while a group of about 50 children from a taekwondo gym were visiting for a water activity.

[Witness: I saw the forensics team passing by here. Police and 119 emergency responders were also going back and forth.]

The child was found face down in the water while wearing a life jacket. Although she briefly regained a pulse after receiving CPR, she eventually passed away at a hospital yesterday.

The accident took place in a section of the indoor wave pool where the water depth is 1.2 meters.

Based on witness statements that vomit was found on the child's life jacket, police are conducting an autopsy. Meanwhile, they have booked the taekwondo gym staff who were supervising the group and the water park safety guards on charges of professional negligence resulting in death and are currently investigating.

At the same water park, a report was made to 112 around 7:00 p.m. yesterday alleging that an adult had sexually molested children.

[Witness: Yesterday, I saw police officers arresting a man and taking him away. He looked to be in his early 30s? He was holding his head up high as they took him away.]

Police dispatched to the scene arrested the man in his 30s in the act. Three victims have been identified so far.

The police are considering requesting an arrest warrant for the man on charges of indecent act by compulsion against a minor under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes.
