Heatwave warnings remain in effect for most parts of the country today, July 13, as sweltering conditions continue. With the heatwave persisting for days, cases of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke are being reported one after another.

We now connect to weather caster Lim Eun-jin at the weather center for the latest details.

The intense heatwave has now continued for four consecutive days.

This is due to the simultaneous influence of the North Pacific high-pressure system and the Tibetan high-pressure system.

Today, daytime temperatures across the country soared to around 33°C (91°F). Seoul reached 32.8°C (91°F), while Pohang saw temperatures as high as the human body temperature.

Showers are expected to pass through the central and Jeonbuk regions until this evening.

Starting tomorrow, monsoon rain will return nationwide.

The rain will begin in the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungnam tomorrow morning, and will expand across the country by nightfall. Between tomorrow and the day after, 30 to 80mm of rain is expected in the central regions, with over 100mm of concentrated rainfall in northern Gyeonggi and the northern inland areas of Gangwon.

The rain is expected to intensify in the central regions starting tomorrow evening.

While the heat will briefly subside in the central regions due to the rain, temperatures are expected to rise above 30°C (86°F) again once the rain stops.

For the upcoming Constitution Day, rain is forecast for the southern regions.
