KOSPI Plummets 8.95% to Close at 6,806, Falling Below 7,000 Milestone

The KOSPI has plummeted by approximately 9%, falling below the 7,000-point mark.
Today (July 13), the KOSPI closed at 6,806.93, down 669.01 points (8.95%).
The index opened at 7,412.03, down 63.91 points (0.85%), and briefly turned to a rise during intraday trading before changing direction again and expanding its losses.
This marks the first time the KOSPI has fallen below the 7,000-point mark in about two months since it first surpassed the level on May 6.
Due to the sharp decline, a sell-side sidecar was triggered at 10:34 a.m. today, followed by a circuit breaker at 1:28 p.m., which halted trading for 20 minutes.
The KOSDAQ opened at 839.72, up 2.29 points (0.27%), but closed at 799.36, down 38.07 points (4.55%), falling below the 800-point mark.
